An inter-faith minibus tour (with sonic and visual dreamscapes) explores religious architecture, sacred music and worship in Western Sydney. Commencing at sunrise with the Adhan (Islamic Call to Prayer) The Calling will physically and sonically immerse passengers in the built and aural architecture of selected mosques, churches and temples in the Western Sydney suburbs of Auburn, Granville and Parramatta.
The tour pilgrims will engage with the architecture, rituals and ceremonies and sounds of worship they may never have previously encountered or experienced.
The places of worship visited by The Calling are beautiful, and importantly, reflective of cultural and demographic shifts. Whilst they are places of worship and faith, they are also indicative of unique social, religious and community transitions in Western Sydney – and Australia.
While the bus tour is now sold out, you are specially invited to join and watch Aruna Gandhi dance with live music at the Sydney Murugan Temple, Westmead, as they call out to the divine in ‘Krishna nee begane baro…’
