Shobha Sekhar’s Kalakruthi School of Indian music has been granted affiliation by the most respected and prestigious institution of Indian Classical music—THE MUSIC ACADEMY, CHENNAI.
The Music Academy has more than 80 years of glorious History remaining in the forefront of Classical fine Arts and recognised as such, globally. It has pioneered December Music Festivals, Concerts, Competitions and lecture and expert committee discussions over the past 8 decades.
The Music academy has for the First time accredited a Music School based anywhere else in the World and Kalakruthi is indeed honoured to have earned this stamp of approval.
Shobha Sekhar formally established Kalakruthi in 1999. Her students have remarkably been groomed to perform this challenging art form at high standards within the short span of time.
“Akin to a University being affiliated to a University of repute and standing, this affiliation (the first of its kind in Indian Music) throws open a floodgate of opportunities for my students” says Shobha. “It would mean more opportunities to interact with Academy’s faculty teachers –to learn, to be assessed, & also foster student exchange programs” adds Shobha.
The President of FIAV, Mr Vasan Srinivasan and his Committee, felicitated Shobha Sekhar during the Independence Celebrations on Saturday 10 August 2011 at Manningham Town Hall. Several Federal Ministers, Mayors and Councillors were among the packed audience at this memorable celebration.
